this reminds me of the scene from the first matrix movie, where cypher sets up morpheus, neo, trinity, et al. to get trapped in that building (you know, the scene where neo goes "whoa... deja vu.")... and poor mouse, up on the top floor, tries to get out, but all the windows and doors have turned into brick. yeah, so... is this a joke?

i stood in front of this building, thinking long and hard as to why this "entrance" bothered me... clearly, whatever hole that was ripped through the side of the building must have taken down whatever door that was there before... and since they thought "we don't really need a door," they tried to instead just patch up that side of the building. but after they botched up the repair by using three different kinds of brick, all different from the original, they must have realised how ugly it looked, so decided to erect another door frame. and in doing so i guess they must have thought that it needed a room number, so they added 601... with the 1 italicized. which is weird, because none of the other doors on that buildling have any numbers on them...

i have a funny feeling that ligett & myers produced something more than just cigarettes in this particular tobacco warehouse...
