man, i love korean pastries. they're distinctly different from american or european pastries in that they tend to be a little less sweet, and a whole lot lighter... they're kind of more like what the idea of pastries should be realized in an actual pastry. in any case, it's more my style. i also love going to coronado island, especially after i found out that it has its own name spelled out on the sand when i was perusing google earth. korean pastries and coronado island, both my faves! so, umm, yeah...
this is me having my moment. mom would be proud!

i just got off the phone with a buddy i haven't spoken to in quite a while. told him all about quitting my old job, packing my bags and heading out west after ten years of living in the south, and how minae and i are both absolutely loving it here. it's hard to believe we've only been in san diego for eight months, and even harder to imagine going back to life in north carolina. and to think i almostchickened chick0ned out a couple times, cuz it meant having to leave a safe, albeit unhappy, life
back east. unhappy because of work, because everyone i knew eventually
left, and because everything was always the same even when things
changed. safe,
because it's what i had planned from the beginning of grad school and even though it
wasn't what i imagined, it was always there for me. hell, i even bought a house there thinking i was gonna stay there forever! or for at least another five years. but if there was ever a
time to just say fuckit and go for it, it was then. i guess it's all about risk versus reward.
and so now i'm able to eat korean pastries on a beach on an island that only takes twenty minutes to get to. plus trips to las vegas every two months! sweat!
