ahhh... my beloved planet hollywood! you gave me so much money!

we took a road trip to Las Vegas to meet up with my bro and to make some extra $$, and ran into this pretty spectacular cloud cover at 4000ft. other than on an airplane, i've never been this close to the clouds before!

on our trip to california, we stopped by scenic Sedona, Arizona for a day. armed with our navigation unit, which had served us quite well up that point, we came across this interesting little route that it took us. it first it looked like a big blob, but upon closer inspection, it looked more like a malformed artery of some sort. roads like this exist, i kid you not!


it's actually a route that passes through a mountain. make sense now? i'm not really one for heights, so driving on this narrow windy road several thousand feet above sea level, perched up on a cliff waiting for newton's laws of physics to come crashing down on us was no fun. what was it again? potential energy = mgh? h was really big here.

we stayed over at george and cecylia's for our new york trip, where they were kind enough to host a couple of homeless koreans. thanks you guys!

as a general rule of thumb, always overestimate the amount of crap that you have by a factor of at least 2 whenever you make a across-state move. when i first called up the moving company, i gave a generous estimate of 2500 pounds of crap in my house that i had to move. after leaving about 250 pounds of books behind and selling about 200 more pounds worth of stuff, i ended up having about 3000 pounds of crap to haul. even after that, we still had to stuff our car to the brim...


step 1: make sure to keep the lady comfy!

step 2: i mean *really* comfy

step 3: leave enough room for said lady to move about whilst not invading your space

step 4: make sure you pack tightly enough such that crap doesn't spill over into the center console

step 5: reluctantly watch as your lady-friend snaps pictures as she strategically blocks out your face

Well, we're leaving the great state of North Carolina and heading toward the greater state of California! (comparison is strictly by size, not by quality by any means!) We sure are gonna miss the trees, but hopefully that void will be filled by warm and sunny weather, year-round. We'll keep ya posted! (click on the map for a larger view)

i primarily spent my interview trip touring san diego, particularly la jolla where the company i'll be interview is located. this place is something else, to say the least.

here's a video of the sunset we recorded on the coast of la jolla, california. i forgot to turn the white balance off, so it unfortunately adjusts the brightness as the sun completely sets. nevertheless, it's a beautiful sight!

so of course, on the last day of our vacation the temperature jumped back up to the 80 degree mark letting us enjoy the weather for a whole 10 minutes :/

since the weather was twenty degrees below average, our trip to miami pretty much consisted of eating and sleeping... here we are at the cheesecake factory at the local mall

for minae's birthday, we took a flight to philadelphia, then the subway, then new jersey transit train up to penn station in NYC. it took about five hours to get there; not sure if it was worth the sixty bucks we saved in airfare, but the good news was our hotel was right in front of penn station (i guess that's why it's called hotel pennsylvania). even better news is that the hotel was one block away from k-town, a place we always end up at every six hours when we visit the big apple.
